Welcome to the Rapid Run Club!
Just a few little hints and tips for those that are new to the sport and looking to get involved:
Fun Runs are exactly that for FUN! you dog will have a few runs in a session and you will gauge the dogs interest in the sport very quickly from one session. Most dogs have some sort of chase instinct so it is a case of seeing whether they will chase the lure or not.
Tournaments require you to have an Active Rapid Run Registry membership found on the FlawlessPawsUK website. £15 per year per dog and this allows you to enter any tournament up and down the country!
Tournament will give your dog 2 runs. A practice and a Tournament Run the fastest time is taken from these two runs. Your points awarded at the end of your session and a Rosette or award given.
Collect these points over your tournament runs to earn titles!
Ideally 2 people are needed for this sport - one to release the dog and another to call and catch at the end. But if we have helpers then you can do this on your own provided your dog will stay with our helpers.
Dogs are to run in just collars, no harnesses allowed for health and safety reasons. The dogs health is our top priority.
Dogs run individually
Dogs can run with a muzzle, but it must allow them to sufficiently pant.
All breeds can partake! XL bullies must wear a muzzle and have their own insurance.
Health checks are carried out before the event starts and any dog that isn't deemed fit to run will be asked to sit out.
Hope that covers a few of your questions !
